For many years, I was fascinated by science fiction and its concepts.

Moreso by Arthur C Clarke's 2001 A Space Odyssey imparting the birth of mankind to a spiritual  finality of sorts.

Ever present was a monolith.

It was black, of accurate dimension and was present at critical stages of mankind's development.

The concept struck me. How would it be if collectively we could make such a monolith for the Canberra War Memorial Museum and have exactly the same monolith replicated for the Auckland's War Memorial Museum in time for the 100 year anniversary for the commemoration of the end of World War 1 in 2018- in time for ANZAC Day?

The structure would need 36 concrete blocks assembled in a 9m high x 4 m wide structure.

The black monolith of Litracon concrete will allow the Sun's rays at dawn and sunset to transmit through- almost incredulously.

"How does light go through something solid?" will have people of all ages questioning and  staring in wonderment and silence.

Perhaps even while The Last Post is sounded.

It will be an indelible memory.

This - harmonized with the fact that our fellow comrades across the Tasman will be looking at the same iconic structure on the same day.

Collective thoughts do travel.

So-- I do ask that anyone reading this post, bring it to the attention of the people that can help fund it and make a fictional thought into a reality.

We look forward to your feedback.
